ESS Ireland

The European Social Survey (ESS) is an academically driven cross-national
survey that has been conducted across Europe since its establishment in 2001.
Every two years, face-to-face interviews are conducted with newly selected,
cross-sectional samples.  The survey measures the attitudes, beliefs and
behaviour patterns of diverse populations in more than thirty nations.

The objective of the study is to offer researchers, policy makers and the
public the highest quality survey data that is comparable across countries and
time.

More than 2,000 households will be selected to take part in the 11th round
of the ESS in Ireland. Fieldwork will commence in June 2023 and is being undertaken by Behaviour & Attitudes. The sample is representative of all residents of Ireland aged 15 and over.

We look forward to another successful data collection to build upon Ireland’s continuous participation in the ESS survey over the past twenty years. This research is supported by a grant from the Irish Research Council (IRC).
